Well my initial goals for the logo is to make it look simple yet unique becasue thats the type of person I am and would like the logo to reflect who i am.

I think my logo matches my intial goal pretty much even though i'm completely finished wit it. My logo is very bright which means positivity and it look catchy yet simple.

My Expectations

My expectations in this class is to learn to create a website and learn how to work with different adobe software's such as dreamweaver, aftereffects etc.What i expect fom my teacher is for her to teach me all the skills i need to become a pro at this subject and be my my side when i need her. What i epect fromn my classmates is to be my suport and help me when i need help in something i dont know ,and the teacher is busy at that time.My main goalin this clasis not just topass it with a high grade but to learn something that will benfit in the coming years in my education life.

Joseph Stalin and Totalitarianism

Totalitarianism is a centralized government in where there is dictatorship and does not like the opinion of others also and also controlling others life. In totalariatism their was no criticism and their was use of mass surveillance. The way that Stalin used totalaratism to rule the soviet union is that he mad everybody listen to him. he wanted to make a Russian a strong industrial state. He even mad spies watch some of the Russian citizens. If you didn't obey him their was a severe banishment or maybe death. Though he followed communism he was the leader of it, but that's not how Communism really is .Nobody could do anything to him so he ruled the soviet union like that for 25 years. The "five Year Plans" that he had to industrialize the soviet union is he poured t he Nations resource to build mills and factories, electric power station, he often took pheasant's lands and make them work in a collective enterprise. During this 5 years many people died. The numbers were outrageous. The great purges was when Stalin forced the enemy of people on them which cause the great deal of execution and deaths. Joseph Stalin was a very strict dictator and he did not like other peoples opinion.

Film Lesson: Doctor Zhivago

The film depicted the Russian revolution as something very harsh for the Russians . The reasons that people wanted a change or have a revolution was because the fact that they didn't like the Czar , he always use to kill people and there was a day that the Russians would march in the streets and a the Czar and his men would come and run them over with his horse . Another reason they wanted a revolution was because they didn't want to fight in the war anymore because first of all they wanted peace and second of all, they were tired of fighting in the war with not enough armor or weapons. The film depicted communism as a very peaceful thing and will make everybody happy. If Communism was in place then there would be no more war and there would be no one leader.When Dr. Zhivago came back to Moscow Communism was in place already . When he came back an saw what happened to house he was shocked , his house was being shared by 13 family's! He was left to live with his family in one room ont he top floor of his once big house that he just lived in by hiself.

Cause of WW1

World war 1 mainly started because of competition prejudice and hatred . Another reason would be nationalism because people didn't want to be controlled by others they wanted to have their own country own language and ritual eventually this happened because their were many new countries that formed after the war ended. For example Austria-Hungary turned into separate countries, Austria and Hungary . Militarism was a reason because European nations were building up their army and training them just because their close countries were doing it too. But they had nothing to do with the Arny for now. But the main reason the war started was because of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. But before that they were just looking for a way to start a war and after the assassination the the war started. The assassin was a Serbian guy so Austria- Hungary were Franz was from, declared war on Serbia the Russian started defending Serbia then Germany declared war on Russia and slowly every European nation jumped into the war . Another important reason was imperialism each European Nation needed goods to run factories so European nations would go overseas and get raw materials . And like that every European nation competed for raw materials.

The Opium Wars

Opium was a very addicting drug kind of thing that the Chinese used to heal pain and diarrhea and the British found that giving opium to the Chinese was their only way to open a trade connection with china. But this opium which they got from India wasn't so original in fact it made the Chinese people very lazy and they couldn't meet their expectations then soon they were addicted to this drug. During the Opium War china battled with Britain because the Chinese emperor ordered Britain to stop trading and selling opium to the Chinese citizens. Since the British didn't want to stop , that's when the war broke out. The war broke out on sea. Eventually china was no match for Britain. The British had vast steam operated ships and rifles that the Chinese couldn't get close to.The Chinese had Boats that were old and not as much modernized a the British so the British ended up beating china.

"The White Man's Burden"

The White Man's Burden explains how white America was trying to conquer Philippines. They considered it a burden because they felt it was their duty to help instead of just for personally reasons they felt they should help the ones in need. The poem directly refers to countries that are imperialistic but the guy talks about civilized and the uncivilized. Some Europeans felt that since they were more advanced and civilized they had to help other cultures.and that was not true, instead the reason they did it was because they weren't happy by their uncivilized ways cheating them with money by getting them to sell raw materials cheap and selling back completed products. I cant really disagree with the analysis,because I can say is that the author of the poem was racist . He talks about the westerns and the people from the other side. I feel like America is still living "the white mans burden". We still are imperialistic especially since we took over America , then saying we have a better political system and they should have it too. Maybe that's wrong so why do we have to go forth and take over that country(you know why ,because bush wants to take their oil!).

"The Scramble for Africa"

The meaning of scramble of Africa in this case means that many leaders from different trying to take over Africa. They were taking a certain part of Africa for their own use .All these leaders were from Europe . Africa had many good natural resources which the Europeans wanted and they were easily able to do this very easily. The natural goods were used for manufacturing in Europe. The European nations involved in this scramble for Africa were the following nations:France, Britain, Spain,Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Italy.Out of these countries France and Britain owned about 65% of Africa. It was really easy conquering Africa because alot of times the Europeans would make the African tribe leaders to sign treaties saying they were able to trade along the coast or saying they can keep order in certain parts. But the Africans did not know exactly what was really written in these papers and what they were giving away. Another reason the Europeans were able to conquer Africa easily is because they had alot of advanced weapons that the Africans didn't have. How this effected the Africans is that sometimes the friendly African tribes were separated or tribe that were enemies were put together because of the way the colonies were divided. This caused alot of corruption and other types of violence to occur among the Africans. The Europeans didn't care because they were getting all the resources they wanted such as elephant tusk, rubber from rubber tree and precious stones.

Film Lesson:"Mountains of the Moon"

The movie "Mountains of the Moon" was a true story of two explorers, John Speak and Richard Burton who went out to find the source of the Nile River in Africa with no map or exact directions. They were many difficulties they faced on their journey including rocky deserts, insects at night, African tribes, food shortage, and invasion of their camps by other tribes. During that invasion they were also almost killed by that tribe (this was their first attempt to find the source of the Nile).But the second time they were more prepared so nothing like that really happened again. Its strange they named the the source of the Nile after a their Queen ( who is British) when its in Africa. But it does make sense that the British discovered it and they can name it after anyone they want.The main advantage the Europeans had against the Africans was guns. Africans had spears which was inferior to guns. The British were much more advanced then the Africans at that time so slowly after they found the source of the Nile, they started conquering it.

The Meiji Restoration of Japan

The way that Mathew's bullied the Japanese people to sign the treaty is that he showed all the big vessels the Americans had.He intimidated the Japanese by showing that his ships can move without sails ,the Japanese were amazed by this. Also when the Japanese saw all the big ships they knew they were no comparison to their ships,and could destroy their land in seconds with all the rifles and canons. When commodore Mathew Perry showed all this the Japanese had no choice they had to sign the treaty . For a while all different countries were invading Japan with trade treaties and they were losing there feudal style of life. That's when the Meiji Restoration started, this restoration really made Japan more advanced and more like the western countries.They adapted the American style of education , all children were to receive free education.They wanted their army to be strong and armored like the western ones so they looked over to Germany for that. Also they looked over to Britain to see all the industrial advancements so they can adapt that too. All this was done when Japan sent thousands of students abroad to study foreign ways and then those student's brung them back to Japan where they use those ideas to make their own. Japan is a Archipelago country which means it is made up of many different islands close together.

Karl Marx And Communism

Karl Marx's ides of Communism was that the working class would have the power to control the government and basically work for themselves not anyone else. He believed that everybody should share the production (food) and there should not be one leader.So communism is basically a economic or political system in where all Wealth is shared by one society. Karl Marx wanted communism to take over the world because he didn't like the ides of capitalism . He felt as wealth became in the hand of capitalist, he thought, the amount of dissatisfied workers would increase , leading to bad revolution or war and eventually a society that is not stable. Of course the bad guys as i said are the capitalist and the good guys for him were the workers.

Karl Max and the Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx did not like the industrial revolution. He felt this like it was a torture for the people, he didn't like he way the people worked and were treated . He didn't like the fact that capitalism was taking over and he wanted to do something. So from observing all that was going on in the Industrial Revolution it inspired him to come up with something that could help the workers. That was Commuism. He wanted people to control the factories, not merchants or those cruel owners. Even though when he died communism wasn't that big. He and a friend that he lived in London with coauthored a book called "The Communist Manifesto" .
This book basically stated everthing about communism. He manifesto described everything about how a communism should evolve. People such as V.I. Lenin Mao Tse-Tung spreaded communism over 20 countries.

Nationalism and the Creation of Italy

Nationalism is when the people of a certain nation- state don't support the king but their own people those who have things n common with them such as culture backgrounds food , language and entertainment etc. . How i am nationalistic is because i represent where i am from with my own people. i also hang around with my people go too festival's that celebrate my holidays and etc. i wear a t-shirt that's says I love Bangladesh (that's where i am from ). I also support the American soccer team because i am part American too.
Italy was one of the nations that after nationalism destroyed empires this one was built. but at that time Italy was ruled by Austria.but the people got tired of that and they wanted their own nation-state, so certain leaders set out to do this.they were Piedmont and its premier Camille Cavour in the north and Giuseppe Garibaldi and his revolutionaries from the north. these two guys united both the north and south together after they seized it from Austria. but even though Italy was one nation-sate everybody wasn't acting like "one group" so they had a parliamentary meeting in where this was stated by Massimo d’Azeglio : “We have made Italy, now we have to make Italians.”

Simon Bolivar And Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar won independence for Bolivia, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The country Bolivia was named after him.He was also called the" liberator" which means ,to let go free and "George Washington of South America". Simon Bolivar was one of south America's greatest generals . His victories over the Spaniards gave him the ability to gain freedom for those countries. He got influenced a by the Europeans and Americans because after he saw that those countries were finally getting rid of their kings. After his wife died of yellow fever he was traveling in Europe and he devoted most of his time in the studies of Rousseau ,Locke, and Voltaire and at the same time being astonished by the work of Napoleon Bonaparte I.While he was traveling back he saw that the Americans have gained their independence from England, all these things influenced him to do the same to his country. After he beat the Spaniard's he organized what was called the republic of Columbia (now Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, and Venezuela). Bolivar then became its 1st president in 1819.The way that Bolivia was named after him was after he had a meeting with another great liberator and he became dictator of Peru,later the upper part of Peru was named in his honor (Bolivia).The constitution, which he wrote up for Bolivia, is one of his most important political documents.

Robespierre and The Reign of Terror

The reign of terror was a 10 month period during the French revolution when struggles between the rival factions led to many conflicts.The terror took the lives of about 25,000 people and in the last month 1,900 executions took place.A man named Robespierre who was a political leader and one of the most influential figures of the French revolution and the main man of the reign of terror.
His executions were carried out with the guillotine. This object can cut a persons head off.This is what Robespierre did to the people of France that were against him.The main reason for the occurrence of the reign of terror was because at that time there was no leader after the execution of king Louis XVI.So Robespierre took directorship of France .When he would execute some body he would call the whole town to come and watch .But after a while people got tired of watching and they started thinking that he was a bad man .On July 27, 1794, he was barred from speaking at the National Convention and was placed under arrest.Later he and all his men's were guillotined including Louis Saint, Georges Couthon including 18 other of his supporters.

The French Revolution:Social causes

The main cause of the French revolution was feudalism.Well other things contributed to it such as taxing the public unfair and the way the estates were divided and treated.
The 3 estates were, first the Clergy who were less then 1% in population and paid about 2% in income tax,second were the rich Nobles who were 2% in population and paid no tax income and last came the peasants or everybody else who occupied 98% of the population and paid 50% in income tax.
The enlightenment also influenced the French revolution, that's because words such as equality liberty and Democracy were being questioned by the third estate and the structure of society.The success of the American revolution also inspired the French revolution ,but the American revolution occurred 13 years ago.
So after everything the third estate wanted to take action,and that was the most triggering moment if the French Revolution.The third estate were heading toward the great Basille were the kind lived and t hey wanted to capture him because cause of him they weren't being treated equally.

Copernicus and the Trial Of GaHlileo

Heleocentrinism is the believe that the sun is the center of the universe/ the solar system.Geocentrinism , which came first is the believe that the earth is center of the universe. the Heleocentrinisn theory was not really believed until the 16th century because there were many disputes over it. But then came Galileo came and argued over his point. This theory was actually made by copernicus but after galileo invented the telescope he observed fro his self and found out Copernicus was right and after that he started telling people. Since Back in the days this was illegal he was put on trial by the catholic church because they believed different. He said the sun is the center of our universe and they said the earth was the center of the universe.Well by putting him on trial they wanted Galileo to admit that he was wrong or else they would kill him ,so he did.he did it because if ha stayed alive ha can at least he can spread the word and if he was dead that was it he would've never been able to do anything.Well at the end Galileo's theory came out during the scientific revolution.

Scientific Revolution:Scientific Method

The scientific method is a more advanced way of experimenting a theory and testing if it is correct. How the scientific method is different from other science methods is that because of its requirement of systematic experimentation.The scientific method also minimizes prejudice n arguments, because you can experiment the argument right there an see if its correct.There are certain steps you have to follow for the scientific method to be valid.First you will start off by just observing what u want to experiment. Second based on that you can make a hypothesis which is sayin what you saw .Third you can make predictions based on what you saw.Forth you can condust a experiment and see if it goes with your predictions you can actually conduct the experiment a couple times to compare your results.Then at the end u can repeat steps 3 and 4 until there is no diffence between them.Then finally ur result will become a theory.A good experiment to uses the scintific method would be to see if humans are able to survive on mars. wel u can never find that out until u send somebody up there and test it a couple times. But this is a very risky situation ,something simpler would be saying all chinese food has fat. well you can test the diffrent chinese food and see if they do.

Evolution vs. Creation

Darwins theory of evolution has many diffrent rules to it.The first rule is "The Premise", this states that all life is related to each other and have come from a common ancestor.this rule also states that bigger things evolve from smaller things just as complex things evolve from simple things .His second rule is "Natural selection" this states that if a specie has a certain characteristics then its offspring will inherit that same characteristics.His third rule is everything happens slowly and gradually.Nothing can forced to occur.His last rule to his theory is that his actual theory was discovered in a matter of time.It happened in tremendous advances they made in molecular biology,biochemistry and genetics over the past fifty years. Then there is Creationism that was mainly bought up so people would not believe evolution . Creationism is the belief that all planets life earth were all formed by god from diffrent religions. One time Creationism was becoming so known that they stopped teaching evoluton in school.But later on this didn't work out. Scientist say that creationism was later denied and used for creation science and flood geology.Everytime Scientist try to contradict creationism , the creationist would come and always point out the most commom thing like the formation of earth and the solar system and other things.
